All of the above business visas, with the exception of business talent visas, and in limited circumstances business owner visas, are provisional visas valid for 4 years, after which an applicant is eligible to make an application for a permanent residence business visa, provided that the applicant continues to meet the relevant criteria.

Business Talent visas are sponsored by State/Territory governments and give a successful applicant permanent residency without the requirement of a provisional period.

An applicant may also obtain state sponsorship for the following business visas:

• Business Owner
• Senior Executive
• Business Investor

Generally, the criteria for State/Territory Sponsored visas are easier to satisfy.

All Business Skills applicants and any dependent members of their family unit must pass health and character requirements. In addition, if any applicant or secondary applicant over the age of 18 cannot demonstrate functional English language ability a further fee is payable to the Department of Immigration for the cost of English tuition in Australia.
